Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are…
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect Tomorrow.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in my pillow,
or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky
and want, more than all the world, your return.

31 Things

In light of today marking 31 years since I met Mark, I thought I'd share 31 things I really like about him.

Sometimes, it can be so easy to focus on all the things a person isn't, today I wanted to take the time to celebrate all the things Mark is.

  1. He doesn't complain.
  2. He works really, really hard.
  3. He kills the bugs and spiders around here.
  4. He takes care of mice, moles and dead birds too.
  5. He'll help with cleaning (if I ask).
  6. He's a great father.
  7. He loves his kids.
  8. He shows it.
  9. He likes what I cook.
  10. He encourages me.
  11. He has beautiful eyes.
  12. He was a scout leader, soccer coach, etc., even when he would have preferred not to be.
  13. He loves animals.
  14. He likes camping.
  15. He tells terrible puns.
  16. He's inheirently neat.
  17. He likes a good chick flick (don't tell).
  18. He loves music.
  19. He likes will tolerate Sur La Table with me.
  20. He "gets" my cookbook addiction.
  21. His feelings don't get hurt when I want nothing more than to crawl into bed as soon as Jacob and Julianna do and lose myself in a good book.
  22. He works really hard in the yard.
  23. He lets me wake him up when it's storming and I'm afraid.
  24. He's really good at crossword puzzles.
  25. He calls me and asks about my day.
  26. He understands (and listens!) when I'm tired and overwhelmed and falling apart.
  27. He loves my parents.
  28. He supports the kids being raised in the church.
  29. He understand my compulsion to grocery shop at 3 different stores.  He'll pass fifty stores and pay for parking, driving downtown so we can "bum around" and burn a Saturday morning while we buy our awesome milk.
  30.  He can make me happier than anyone else on earth.
  31. He's here.  Day in, day out.

I love this and love that you made this list. The positives do sometimes get hidden in the day to day. And it is so much easier to complain. Hope you had a great day!
